More than 100 people gather Saturday at Mount Pleasant's Island Park to dedicate a memorial to Marine Lance Cpl. Justin M. Ellsworth, 20, of Mount Pleasant, who was killed by a roadside bomb Nov. 13 outside Fallujah, Iraq. At left, Ellsworth's father, John M. Ellsworth, 41, of Wixom and cousin Kira R. O'Donnell, 6, of Eaton Rapids, daughter of Mark and Janice O'Donnell, read the plaque on the newly dedicated memorial. Below, J.L. Ball, 20, of Mount Pleasant stands next to the memorial as he reads a poem he wrote in Justin Ellsworth's memory. Ball and many friends and family members wore shirts commemorating the Marine: The "05" on the front was his football number, and the word "Tweeter" on the back was his nickname.
