Lance Cpl. Justin Ellsworth, Wixom: Marine rescued civilians in Iraq

Funeral services for Marine Lance Cpl. Justin M. Ellsworth, who felt his greatest achievement in Iraq was rescuing civilians caught in the bloody battle of Fallujah, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Mt. Hope Church, 202 S. Creyts Road in Lansing.

Mr. Ellsworth, 20, of Wixom, was killed when a roadside bomb struck the vehicle carrying him and other Marines on a mission to rescue Iraqi civilians in Fallujah.

He graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 2003. Mr. Ellsworth spent time between Mt. Pleasant and Wixom.

Visitation was scheduled for 4-9 p.m. today at the Lakes Baptist Church, 309 Decker Road in Walled Lake.

Visitation also will be 3-9 p.m. Friday at the Estes-Leadley Funeral Home, 325 W. Washtenaw St., Lansing. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Lansing.
